ISO/TS 15926-4:2007 Industrial automation systems and integration — Integration of life-cycle data for process plants including oil and gas production facilities — Part 4: Initial reference data is published as:
a paper document that explains the scope of the standard and that defines the format of the spreadsheets of reference data;
sets of reference data for different engineering domains, which are published on the Web as spreadsheets.
The paper document has to be purchased from ISO or from an ISO member body. However the format of the spreadsheets is very simple, so the document is unnecessary. Each item in a spreadsheet is defined by text within the spreadsheet.

An amendment to ISO/TS 15926-4 that deals with these problems was approved and was sent to ISO Central Secretariat for publication in September 2009. In July 2010, it remains unpublished. A possible reason for this delay are the standardization policy issues raised by assigning URIs to items defined within a standard.
