4 Information requirements

This clause specifies the information requirements for the Product activity and state space parameterisation application module.

The information requirements are specified as a set of units of functionality, application elements, and application assertions. These assertions pertain to individual application entities and to relationships between application entities. The information requirements are defined using the terminology of the subject area of this application module.

1. - A graphical representation of the information requirements is given in annex C.
2. - The mapping specification is specified in 5.1 which shows how the information requirements are met using the integrated resources of this International Standard. The use of the integrated resources introduces additional requirements which are common to application modules and application protocols.

4.1 Units of functionality

This subclause specifies the units of functionality (UoF) for the Product activity and state space parameterisation application module as well as any support elements needed for the module definition. This part of ISO 10303 specifies the following units of functionality:

• Product_activity_and_state_space_mapping;
• Product_activity_and_state_identification.

This part of ISO 10303 uses the following units of functionality:

• Engineering_analysis_basics;

  NOTE - The Engineering analysis basics AM contains supertypes of the application objects in this AM. These supertypes have no attributes and merely clarify the meaning of the application objects. These supertypes have no impact on the MIM.

• Maths_space;
• Maths_value.

The units of functionality and a description of the functions that each UoF supports are given below.

4.1.1 Product_activity_and_state_space_mapping

The Product_activity_and_state_space_mapping UoF specifies:

• a parameterisation scheme for a set of product designs or features, activities or states. Each member of the set is identified by a mathematical value according to the scheme.

  NOTE - A continuous space of product features or states can be mapped to a real interval, so that each real value in the interval corresponds to an individual feature or state.

  A discrete set of product designs or features, activities or states can be mapped to an integer interval, so that each integer value in the interval corresponds to an individual feature, activity or state.

• the way in which a parameterisation scheme for a 'product' space of states for design features can be derived from the separate parameterisation schems for the design features and for the states.

The following application objects are used by the Product_activity_or_state_space_mapping UoF:

• Derivation_of_parameterisation;
• Parameterisation;
• Subset_of_parameterisation.

4.1.2 Product_activity_and_state_identification

The Product_activity_and_state_identification UoF specifies:

• the relationship between a product design or feature, activity or state and a mathematical value that identifies it;
• the parameterisation scheme that has been used for the identification.

The following application objects are used by the Product_activity_or_state_identification UoF:

• Element_of_parameterisation;
• Parameterisation_element.

4.1.3 Engineering_analysis_basics

This UoF is defined in the Engineering_analysis_basics module. The following application entities from this UoF are referenced in the Product activity and state space parameterisation module:

• Class_of_physical_individual;
• Classification;
• Physical_space;
• Specialisation_of_class;
• Mapping.

4.1.4 Maths_space

This UoF is defined in the Maths_space module. The following application entities from this UoF are referenced in the Product activity and state space parameterisation module:

4.1.5 Maths_value

This UoF is defined in the Maths_value module. The following application entities from this UoF are referenced in the Product activity and state space parameterisation module:
